Running ruby code in telemetry screens after pressing a button

Hello,

I have been using Cosmos5 telemetry screens to try and run ruby code by pressing a button. I am hoping to get some insight/examples on how to actually run all sorts of ruby code (specifically running scripts in the directory) from within a telemetry screen.

I'm trying to go off examples from Cosmos4 but haven't had success.
The only code I have been able to run is the "api.cmd("COMMAND ONE")" and then it shows that the target has received the command packet.

I would like to run a script when pressing the button like this and that script would have code to send a command.
BUTTON 'Set Addresses' 'system("ruby #{Cosmos::USERPATH}/config/targets/VSIL/lib/convert_memdump_addresses.rb")

Also, do the buttons execute javascript or ruby code now? The documentation on the website says JavaScript now?

If you can share any examples of how to do this in Cosmos5 it would be greatly appreciated!

Hello thank you for your interest in Cosmos and sorry for the very late reply. Yes the buttons on screens now run in Javascript. As to how to do this..... Well I don't have a good answer yet.

@gerhardatball is correct. We don't yet have a native way to run a script from a button like in COSMOS 4. I've created an internal ticket to track this feature.

I was wondering if there has been any news on this feature. I am migrating a cosmos 4 project to 5, and there are a lot of buttons for running scripts that need to be included.

We haven't yet done work on this feature. It would require a route into the ScriptRunner application where you could pass the script to run. Then some Javascript to run that route. I created issue #1611 to track this.
