basically allows faster navigation
for devices with faster media. microSD is one of them. but heavy load on 3DO and device
may fit more than 14 entries if names are smaller

you have file buffer and can read/write files using this buffer.

buffer is 2048 bytes (you can reuse TOC buffer, as all file operations are Mutexed with TOC operations. They don't mix in the menu)

2 commands are to transfer data to and from the file buffer:

XPort has 0xe8 -- which allows to send up to 2048 bytes to the file buffer using data write fifo.. much faster than 4 bytes using command interface...
