star rating or badging of volunteers and project owners #20

Talk to your HR and unions first. This was a big no-no @ state. |
Rather than rating performance on opportunities, how about recording objective facts about their completion - completed early, completed on time, completed late, not completed? HR and the union still need to be consulted. |
That is an interesting idea. While the idea of subjectively rating participants, plussing up their skills, assigning badges etc was a point of objection for our union, it was partially based on the assumption that senior officials would not be running their own accounts and their delegates, more junior staff, could arbitrarily reward people based on affinity rather than merit. Delegate access isn't allowed in Midas, but since we had other issues to deal with, we deferred this. I do think if we determined this was a significant value add, we could push this with the unions and figure out a way to make it work. Objective ratings would be less controversial. We also discussed users self-rating their competencies in various areas - similar to ratings for language ability. |
Users have commented that the would like some way of rating or badging the volunteers to help new users or volunteers decide if they are interested in working with a particular project owner or volunteer. This approach has its downsides and might not be acceptable to HR, but could have the advantage of letting the community engage in self-policing and increase accountability. I am flagging it as a possible new direction for the tool.
