MediaWiki lets the bookmanager add chapter headers in the list of selected pages.

This means starting new chapter at new page with (following wiki pages don't start with at new page)

The latest release 2015-10-03 of the ODT plugin allows insertion of a table of contents. This also works together with the bookcreator plugin.

Also, the support for links has been improved:
E.g. imagine you export 3 pages A,B and C. A has a link to B and C has a link to another page D but that is not exported/included in the book. In that case the link from page A to page B will be converted to a local ODT link, means if you click on it, it will jump to page B in the exported ODT document. The link from page C to page D is exported as an external http link pointing to the DokuWiki webpage because page D is not included in the exported ODT document/book.
