- This PR (i) modifies the OpHit finder to save the StartTime and the RiseTime new attributes added in LArSoft/lardataobj#26 and (ii) adds an art tool to calculate the RiseTime for the reconstructed pulses. Changes are summarized below.
- OpticalDetector/OpHitFinder/OpHitAlg.h: it now fills the StartTime and RiseTime new members. The option to save the pulse start time (overloading the PeakTime) is retained, but not recommended.
- larana/OpticalDetector/OpHitFinder/PMTPulseRecoBase.h Add
rise_timevariable to thepulse_paramstructure. - Add a new directory

- This PR adds two new data members to the recob::OpHit data product: the pulse StartTime and RiseTime.
- Currently the OpHit objects only save the PeakTime (time slot in which the optical waveform reaches its maximum value). However the PeakTime does not represent well the arrival time of the first photon to the optical detector (specially for the larger OpHits/prompt scintillation light). We have seen that we can achieve a time resolution of the order of 2-3 ns if we were able to save a start/rise time (SBND PMTs simulation based). More details can be found in this LArSoft Coordination Meeting talk.
- Change list:
- Add two new data members: fStartTime and fRiseTime
- Add a new constructor that directly initializes all the data members.
- For backwards compatibility, the “legacy” constructor initializes the new members to a DefaultTime (std::numeric_limits::max()).
- A new function HasStartTime() is added to check wether the StartTime and the RiseTime are initialized.
- NB: as suggested by @PetrilloAtWork, there is currently an option in larana OpHit finder algorithm to save the pulse StartTime (instead of the PeakTime). If this PR is finally merged, it would be natural to update larana to save both members.
