It'd be great to be able to test CFF2 variable fonts in Samsa.

I know some people grumble about the inclusion of CFF2 in the spec for variable fonts, but it is nevertheless part of the spec, and the browser support for CFF2 variable fonts is now quite wide.

(As an additional side note – and despite suggestions I've seen elsewhere to the contrary – all the tests I've done on fairly typical typefaces show CFF2 variable fonts offering smaller file sizes than their TTF-flavored counterparts, even when WOFF2 compression is involved.)

I’d love to, but it needs significant time that I cannot offer for free right now. Sponsors welcome!

Very understandable! I guessed that was probably the case, but figured it wouldn't hurt to have it on the official wishlist :)

Indeed it’s good to have it there, and from you. Thanks!

In the mean time, maybe it'd be good to briefly mention the TTF format requirement in the upload box? I spent more time than I'd like to admit testing different things before coming to the realization that the CFF2 probably just wasn't supported.

That is a very good point. In fact I intended to add it some time ago. I’ve created issue #81.

I’ll keep this issue open for actually implementing CFF2.
