In the link, https://essentia.upf.edu/extending_essentia.html#declaring-needed-parameters
the methods described for declaring parameters are outdated.
Current code only seems to support this declaration -

void Configurable::declareParameter(const string& name, const string& desc, const string& range, const Parameter& defaultValue)

void declareParameter(const std::string& name, const std::string& desc,
