  • Add the start date of the event (required)
  • Add the end date of the event (optional)
  • Add the start time of the event (required)
  • Add the end time of the event (required)

Why:

  • Provide a possible value frame instead of a free edit field.
  • Force the use of this parameter, in current version we could erase date and time information.
  • Could be used to compute a countdown to a fixed event (elections)
  • Could be used for internationalization (other date format)

Although it helps the user formatting its text, it forces them to use the banner for an event.

These banners may be used for anything, especially since the background image can be changed by the user.

What you suggest is interesting for certain users, but if implemented, it should be optional and the default should be free text fields like now. Then it's up to the user, with the preview, to decide if the banner looks good or not for its intended purpose.
