[Bug]: No error message when login fails

Summary

When an account is pending approval or using invalid credentials, the login UI will spin forever and never notify the user.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a user with the username "Test"
2. Verify email
3. Try to login with "test" (invalid user) but no notification
4. Try to login with "Test" (not approved) but no notification
