What happened?

When growing saplings from BYG if there are other blocks nearby (usually a wall, but I have also seen it happen to the ground as well) they can be deleted and replaced with parts of the tree. I am trying to make a tree farm, and I keep having to fix it because growing trees delete parts of it.

I created a new MC instance with only BYG installed to do some testing in a creative world and will attach a few screen shots. For testing my method was, in a superflat world, cre

ate a huge wall of Smooth Stone and try to grow an assortment of saplings near it. I then went to the otherside of the wall and removed any leaves or logs that weren't in the wall exposing at least one log in the wall for each sapling I tried. I also tried growing around half a dozen Ether trees near a wall and clearing all the trees to show what it looks like after repeated growths.
