There are examples of how to use the profiling tools with notebooks at the end of each of the Function-level and Line-level profiling sections. Splitting the notebook material out into its own section would have two advantages:
- Instructors would find it easier to skip over the section if short on time or if notebooks are a lower priority than scripts for most learners
- Learners only have to switch over to notebooks once, rather than going back and forth between scripts and notebooks
When we taught the course at King's, we skipped the notebooks sections entirely due to time and the challenges of getting all the learners set up with a suitable way of running notebooks, so I'd be interested to hear from others about how useful this change would be.
