The current mechanism for pagination is that the total results are shown on the far left of the screen, with pagination controls on the far right. The arrows are enabled/disabled based on whether results fit on a single page, but a lot of people frequently miss this. So the UX needs improving.
Some ideas:
Change pagination to be infinite scroll. This cleans up the UI somewhat as pagination controls can be removed, and also improves the UX. This might be nice as a means of making space for sort controls
Move the total count to the right of the page, to include the count between the arrows
