Easy way to change selected SSASidemenu item programetically from the child viewcontroller? (Info)

I want to switch the displayed viewcontroller from the currrent displayed viewcontroller, is there some kind of global access to the ssasidemenu to change the child viewcontroller or do I have to replace the whole ssasidemenu?
