Can't open settings

Trying to add configurable mods but I can't access any of the settings. As soon as I click on the setting button nothing happens and the game gets stuck there. I can highlight the x in the top right, but nothing happens when I click on it. Same for other settings buttons, they highlight but when I click on them nothing happens. Tried reinstalling, tried installing an older version, and tried resetting my pc. I don't think there's a version mismatch but maybe I'm wrong?
