It needs to better describe

What branch should the person creating the patch be on to create the diff
An example of one being created from end to end.
The amount of patches the person should be creating for (what factors are involved)?
What content the README of the plugin should contain, such that it is easy for the end user to apply the patch
Which versions need to be patched
Which patches are necessary for that version

Existing example is https://github.com/catalyst/moodle-tool_objectfs#applying-core-patches but note the patch files are named differently (older example) than what is currently recommended in this project's readme.
