unlike geddit theme where you would have to copy themes in $HOME/.local/share/gedit/styles , the new gnome-text-editor requires you to copy themes in /usr/share/gnome-text-editor/styles. Could you please add this in gedit page or make a new page for gnome-text-editor ?

installing normally then running sudo mv /home/$USER/.local/share/gedit/styles/catppuccin-mocha.xml /usr/share/gnome-text-editor/styles worked for me on ubuntu 24.04
