I am looking to assemble a genome using single-sample hifiasm (HiC). From my understanding, it's best to use HiC reads from the same sample/individual from which the hifi reads are generated. Is this correct? However, what if you use HiC reads from another individual? Does it work in some cases (I imagine it could in some rare cases)?
