Hi!
I have been reading about the challenges with the touch screen around the D1, would it be possible to build a version of this without the screen and run the printer exclusively via octo?
Its a great printer but is somewhat lacking on its stock firmware.

In theory it should be possible as I recently found out it is possible to run Klipper on it.

The pins will need to be defined but someone has done a printer.cfg here so it should be easy to take it from there.

I don't know if it will be much different than stock FW to Octoprint. I guess there are a few more supported Gcodes like filament change.
It will also get rid of that unsafe firmware warning due to an old bug in the original Aquila FW if that shows for you.

I have never used klipper but I'll give it a try thanks! its just silly things like offset and changing filament mid print that just don't work as well using stock as they do on the X2 with alex firmware.
Considered upgrading the X2 from alex to this too but it prints like a dream and if it aint broke dont fix it!

Klipper (pending some fine tuning!) is up and running great! Had to uncomment a few things in the cfg but so far so good.

its possible to completely run via octoprint without a screen, however this firmware is geared towards the UI experience. that said, it may be possible to flash this firmware on a D1 Aquila just without that touchscreen, however I would have to double check the chip and board on that machine to see what would be compatible.
