Having looked into this, unfortunately Xero don't currently support updating accounts of type 'BANK'. We will update our coverage tracker to reflect this. However, Jos is also going to reach out to understand your use case in a bit more detail to see if there are any other options for us to support. We'll also keep an eye out for any changes in Xero's support for this feature and if/when it is enabled then we can look at prioritising it.
