I'm new to mining all together, so I'm looking for the best way to learn critical info on optimizing my 5 Baikal Giant+ ASICs. They are underperforming in terms of payout, so I know there's improvements I need to make. I just got on this thread & noticed comments that suggest if I don't have them optimized, I might even be hurting others payouts as well. So, point me in the right direction & I'll learn quickly. I'm not a programmer, but can stumble through.

I'm on dash03.p2poolmining.us:7903/, & my hashrate registers at over 10 GH/s, but my payouts cycle up to .025, but then down to .002. I expect variation, but that seems excessive. More importantly, the miner listed just below me is hashing at 9 GH/s, but his projected payout is double mine. Any suggestions?

There are a host of possibilities...

  1. How long has your miner been mining on the p2pool node? Keep in mind that your projected payout is based on the number of shares you have contributed to in the p2pool chain (8640 shares). P2Pool uses PPLNS (pay per last n shares) so the longer you mine, the more shares you contribute to, the higher your projected payout will be. Therefore, you can't compare your payout to other miners strictly on hash rate alone.
  2. Difficulty plays a huge role in the variation of payouts. You should be able to look at the payout graphs of other miners on the node to see the impact of difficulty to all payouts.
  3. Biggest thing is stay consistent... Event if you reduce your hash rate or stop mining for a few hours you will see the impacts in your payout.

Thank you. I've had them up for almost 2 weeks now. I'll read through.
