Issue loading file with no/extra whitespace

Requirement 2.a.iv: Whitespace and empty lines should be ignored.
Expected: Data is loaded from file ignoring odd/lack of whitespace present.
Observed: Out of range exception is thrown.
Test Data: test_load_no_space.txt & test_load_odd_space.txt
Steps to Reproduce:

1. Launch application
2. Attempt to load either of the above files, or another file with whitespace scattered/missing that otherwise conforms to the required format.
