Allow page filters to run before PageModel.OnPageHandlerExecutionAsync

I would like to override PageModel.OnPageHandlerExecutionAsync on a page to do some initialization of the model, but I want page filters to run first, so that if they would end up short-circuiting the handler execution, the compute time spent initializing the model would not have been a waste. Is there any way to do this?
