Taxon column (GAF column 13) cardinality should be 1 or greater

Hello,

Currently the cardinality of the Taxon column (GAF column 13) is 1 or 2; however there are terms that describe interactions between 3 species, so the cardinality should be 1 or greater

@balhoff Can we change this in the documentation (http://geneontology.org/docs/go-annotation-file-gaf-format-2.2/) , or is this a change in format?

Since it already can handle 2 (separated by pipe), it shouldn't require any syntax change to handle greater.

If the official documentation and spec does not include 3+, it is a format change. We cannot just change the spec without iteration. The new spec should be 2.2.1, considered a non-breaking bug fix change.
