Sending clicks to a window closes task switcher

I would expect xdotool click --window [ID] [#] to do nothing to anything other than that one window. But the task switcher (Alt+Tab) closes every time such a command is executed. That makes it very annoying to use my computer while an xdotool-based script is running, especially with ≥3 other windows, since I need to constantly race against it. This all combines greatly with a KDE bug that makes the window list not usable sometimes. 🙃
