As it was written in the title.
Unfortunately, 3 out of the 10 apps have no icons, so far. You can see it below:

In 2019, I created a logo for OpenBVE (for my personal use) - png extension, 484px x 484px :

OpenBVE_szerkesztett_logo_484-484

In the same month of 2019, I also created an icon for OpenBVE (ico extension, 128px x 128px).
Unfortunately, I could not able to upload this file here (ico file type is not supported).

Is it possible to give icons to the 3 apps that have no icons yet? ...and what do you think about the icon update?

Thanks your reply in advance!

If I'm honest, your icon is just a reflection of the current 'fad' for circles :P

Nothing personally irritates me more than icons (or UI) changing for the sake of change.
It's one thing for things to change for functionality, but another just to conform to modern design.

Anyone else have an opinion?

Other apps:

  • WinPluginProxy- Purely internal, not intended to be launched by users, so doesn't really need an icon.
  • ObjectBender- Not really touched this (other than merging some duplicate code). Looking at it, it wants a bit of a fixup anyway to get rid of the console window,
  • CarXMLConvertor- Probably needs one adding, although this is again a relatively obscure non-standard user app.

We almost want 'unique' icons for each app, but that's somewhere very low on a priority list.

Okay, that's not a problem for me.
Anyway, this logo is used on an OpenBVE Discord server and in my personal chat group. :D

At least the current application name is "OpenBVE".
First of all, that 'is' wrong.
I can understand changing a square to a circle.
But if you want to add or change an icon, you need to get 'consensus'.
So this issue remains stalled.
#325
Some Japanese oldest players close to mackoy have been requesting a change to the application name for 15 years, and we finally got agreement to change it.
It was very difficult process.
And the font and design of this character remains extremely similar to BVE4.
Similarly, some of the oldest players continue to demand for a change to the logo for 15 years.
You are proposing to change it without going through this process.
It's not about your design sense, it's about getting 'consensus'.

If we are to say "modernize" the icon, then I think #689 should be enough already :P

UI trends changes constantly, it would probably be outdated in a few years time.
I think it would be better having a well-balanced icon that may not follow the latest trend, but doesn't scream 90s either, and IMO the current icon is good enough to be just that.
(Only within the bound of aesthetic of course, other issues I am not qualified to talk for)

Not to say a modern icon/UI isn't beneficial, it just isn't too helpful in the case of OpenBVE which isn't trying to appeal to the masses and be this very user-friendly program. (Maybe more importantly there just isn't enough developer resources here, might be better to get actual work done than thinking about aesthetic stuff)

(Also some players reportedly found the Win32PluginProxy console pop-up a bit confusing)

I'm so sorry, I didn't want any arguments, I just didn't understand why these 3 apps don't have icons. :(
Could I close this?
