Is a version update essentially the same as a new installation? #98
Comments
Well, I took the https://github.com/libellux/Libellux-Up-and-Running/blob/master/docs/openvas/config/ubuntu_21.4.5.sh script to update, skipping config file, database and user related stuff. It looks like working. However, the version of GSA became 21.4.3. |
Hello @zsfarkas-memoq to be honest I haven't been focusing a lot on how-to persist data through upgrades. I'll look into read up on it and add a chapter for upgrading as it makes lot of sense. Edit: Add to the todo list for next revision of GVM. |
Update: will add this to the documentation once greenbone make a new release. |
Thank you for the precise installation guide. I followed it and got OpenVAS from source code to running. I am on 21.4.2 now, but I see it is outdated and the latest version is 21.4.5.
How can I update my system the easiest, using the fresh source code? Is it practically a full installation, apart from the user and database creation?
