  1. Detect a timestamp (should not be too complex to scan for)
  2. Store this somewhere on an object so that it's easy to jump between them.
  3. Some sort of "last timestamp" will have to live on the other objects.

Setting things up in the way indicate by 2/3 will mean more setup work is required, but it will take some of the load off of the logic in constructing the set of nodes/links
