I know, that there is not much work going into MozStumbler atm.
But in-case people start working on it again, one improvement to how localization is handled could be made:
the project could switch away from Github to Mozilla Pontoon:
https://pontoon.mozilla.org/

Just as an idea.
I just translated one project there, it's great and super intuitive :)

We're currently working on getting actual Android support into pontoon, it's going to be a bit still.

Once that's done, hooking this project up would actually require some changes to the code here.

And I'm not exactly sure what we'll get from adding a rather stale project to our general l10n ecosystem.

thx for taking a look :)

I heard that MLS gets most new data through Firefox these days but I'm not sure whether that makes this project stale.

Sure it's not being developed further, but the real question is:
how many users are still actively using it and downloading it on the play store. And from which countries?
how many users are actively using it -> you could probably look that up by looking at the data that comes to the ichnaea/MLS server with the app's api key.

which countries does MLS still lack?
does mozstumbler have a translation for those countries?

if not and Pontoon supports that language then a translation into that new language could be useful to get data from that country :)

the playstore description could be translated on Pontoon as well.

It could be useful.
if you look at the open PR's:
there is one update for an existing translation and one new language in there.

I bet people on Pontoon, could still add lots of new languages and verify/proofread the current strings ;)

what could also be done:
https://location.services.mozilla.com/
The design hasn't been overhauled to the new one, yet.
And the website could use some localization, since the android browser links to it in the settings page.

At least the service is in use after all :)
