The Visualization Knowledge (VisKo) projects allow users to request for the generation of visualizations declaratively. Using this declarative language, users can specify what plotting technique they want their data visualized as without having to specify how the system should satisfy the request. The language, however, handles the concept of “plot” as a holistic entity and does not allow users to configure the plot, such as specifying what the title of the plot should be or what variable of their datasets should correspond to what axis. We hope to augment the VisKo declarative language with constructs suitable for allowing users to describe their plots at a lower level, by specifying what components should compose the plots and how they should be configured.
