I configured buildroot to use @arm000 's kernel and connected a PHY (LAN8720) according to this connection diagram.

The board boots up normally but ifconfig -a does not show any Ethernet devices. (I believe it is meant to show up as enet0?)

Am I missing anything? Does it need special M0 / D0 firmware?
