Are you talking about Xapps? In my opinion those should be updated to GTK4, but without Libadwaita of course. GTK3 will eventually die, exactly as GTK2 did. It even has a lot of advantages over GTK3 like hardware acceleration. |

In the past blog post the question about a gtk4 migration was asked, however the reasons given for not doing so do not make a lot of sense to me. This is the latest version of Handbrake which was recently ported to gtk4, it still looks like a generic classic application. In the related issue they talk about the changes needed for the port. Yes, lots of APIs changed or were removed completely, but we got a lot of new positive things with gtk4. Rather that forking gtk3 woulndt it be more viable to adapt to gtk4, and if gtk5 turns out to be something that bad that cannot be adopted fork gtk4 instead. We still have 'themes' and x11 support in gtk4 some things just need to be done differently.
