Feature Description

As an instructional designer or instructor who is not a network manager, I would like to have access to an easy way to bulk add students to a private book. Currently the confirmation emails are getting caught in filters or are being overlooked or students click on the wrong link in these emails.

What could contribute to making this process easier:

  • extend the ability to "Skip Confirmation Email" to book administrators (currently only available to network managers)
  • give ability to "Skip Confirmation Email" to network managers and book administrators when bulk adding users
  • modify the email the users receive so that the activation link is the first link (not the book link)

Feature Use Case

Network managers and instructional designers experience challenges with adding students to private books. Some IT departments have put into place email filtering software that blocks Pressbooks verification emails. Therefore students were unable to find these emails and they couldn't be added manually for a few days. Some network managers have been able to get all Pressbooks emails whitelisted, but are still experiencing issues with students not finding the verification emails. Currently the "Skip Confirmation Email" option is only available for network managers and not for book administrators. But the classlists usually are not available to the network managers, only to the instructors / instructional designers.
Even for students who find the invitation email, the way the information is presented poses a challenge. Students often click the first link, which is simply the link to the book, instead of the activation link.
