Additional suggestion about the overlay icons.
I have tested also VisualSVN but, for me, there is a missing functionality (present in AnkhSVN but the project seems dead).
The possibility to automatically lock a file when the user start the editing (if the file is not already locked by a different user), and an icon to see immediately the locked and unlocked files in the Solution Explorer (as AnkhSVN with a padlock icon closed or open).
