Using environment variables with headers and from_static.

Apologies, I am learning Rust from Python... Forgive me if this is a trivial question to answer. Loving using this crate! I would really appreciate some advice 🙏🏻

My application loads an environment variable and I use this variable as a bearer token for authorisation. I am able to do this with bearer_auth when building a request. However, my application makes several requests. I am trying to use the ClientBuilder to specify the all the necessary headers of the Client. However, I cannot seem to beat the compiler (I feel like it is a final boss at this point).

I want to do the the following:

1. Load the environment variable.
2. Create a bearer_token variable, i.e. Bearer <MY_ENV_VAR>.
3. Create a header map.
4. Create an auth_value variable using HeaderValue::from_static(<bearer_token>).
5. Set auth_value as sensitive.
6. Insert the authorisation header.
7. Build the client.

Is this the correct approach? I am not sure how people are using reqwests with secrets.

On a separate note, I want to instantiate a client and use it for multiple requests. Is the most simple way to do this to create a "Client Singleton" of sorts? I want to tie the client to the functions I need to use it in.

Just as I wrote this, I managed to get it to work. I needed to unwrap from_str... I could then set_sensitive.

I would still love advice on the second part of my question 🙏🏻

Yes, that's how I would personally do it. If all my requests could use the same config, I'd create one Client and make it a field of whatever struct holds all other app config, and then in functions I could use self.client.post(), etc. Or pass it as an argument to functions, that works perfectly fine too. But by reusing it, you'll get better performance.
