[Question] Getting redirect URL

Greetings,

I'm using reqwest to do a POST request to an endpoint that will answer with a redirect. The redirect will then fail, because there's nothing listening at that address, but I need to be able to inspect the redirect's URL for further processing. I don't care whether that URL will be queried or not, as long as I can get it as a string (or string slice). Right now I'm able to get it as part of an error message, but this isn't ideal as that error could change in the future. Is there a way to do this?
Looking at the docs, I found the reqwest::redirect module which might do the trick, but I wasn't able to put all the pieces together to actually make use of it.

Hm, so a couple things come to mind:

1. You could disable redirects, by setting Policy::none(). Then you can manually follow them yourself.
2. You can check either Response::url() or Error::url(), which should contain the last URL that was actually fetched.

Thank you for your answer, I have one more question. In case I set the redirect policy to none, the request will fail due to the redirect. How can I then manually follow it/extract the URL?

The request shouldn't fail. You'll just get a Response with a redirect status code, and a location header.
