CHAPTER 7 : Geometrical Figures
A geometrical shape is the geometric information which remains when location,
scale, orientation and reflection are removed from the description of a
geometrical object. They have a definite area. Here are the areas and all other
stuff related to these geometrical figures :
I) 2-D figures:
1. Circle
(a) Area - 3.14*radius*radius
(b) Circumference - 2*3.14*radius
(c) Diameter - 2*radius
2.Triangle
(a) Area - 1/2*base*height
(b) Perimeter - For a triangle with sides a,b,c, its perimeter is a+b+c.
(c) Orthocenter - The point of intersection of all the altitudes of a
triangle.
(d) Centroid - The point of intersection of all the medians of a triangle.
3. Square
(a) Area - For a square of side a, its area is a*a
(b) Perimeter - 4*a
(c) Diagonal - 1.414*a
4. Rectangle
(a) Area - For a rectangle of length l and breadth b, its area is l*b
(b) Perimeter - 2*(l+b)
(c) Diagonal - sqrroot(l*l + b*b)
5. Trapezium
(a)Area={(Sum of parallel sides) * Height}/2
(b)Perimeter=Sum of all sides
II) 3-D figures
1. Sphere
(a) Area - 4*3.14*radius*radius
(b) Volume - 1.33*3.4*radius*radius*radius
(c) Diameter - 2*radius
2. Hemi-sphere
(a) Area - 3*3.14*radius*radius (b) Volume - 0.66*3.14*radius*radius*radius
(c) Diameter - 2*radius
3. Cube
(a) Area - For a cube of side a, its volume is a*a*a
(b) Volume - 6*a*a
(c) Diagonal - 6.93*a
4. Cuboid
(a) Area - For a cuboid of height h, length l and breadth b its area
is 2*(l*b + b*h + h*l)
(b) Volume - l*b*h
(c) Diagonal - sqrroot(l*l + b*b + h*h)
5. Cylinder
(a) Surface Area - For a cylinder of height h and radius r, the area is
2*3.14*r*h + 2*3.14*r*r
(b) Volume - 3.14*r*r*h
(c) Lateral Surface Area - 2*3.14*r*h
6. Cone
(a) Surface Area - For a cone of height h and radius r, the area is
3.14*r*(r + sqrroot(h*h + r*r)
(b) Volume - 0.33*3.14*r*r*h
(c) Lateral Surface Area - 3.14*r*sqrroot(h*h + r*r)
