Problem
I had a user that accidentally entered the wrong authentication information (e.g. client id and secret) while setting up the SpotifyPlus integration. He was receiving an "INVALID_CLIENT: Invalid client" response when trying to authenticate to Spotify via Home Assistant. He had tried uninstalling / reinstalling the integration, but it did not fix the issue.
Solution
If you have multiple Spotify accounts defined, ensure that the account you are logging on to Spotify with when installing the integration is the same account for the specified Spotify Application Client ID and Secret. If it’s not, then click on the “Not you?” link on the “Agree” form, and re-login to Spotify with the correct account.
I would suggest that you do the following:
remove the SpotifyPlus integration. Please refer to the Device Configuration Options \ Step 5a Remove Integration wiki page for detailed instructions.
remove the HA OAuth2 Application Credential you added for SpotifyPlus. Please refer to the Device Configuration Options \ Step 5b Remove Application Credential wiki page for detailed instructions.
clear your browser cache (specifically for the spotify.com and homeassistant domains).
restart Home Assistant to clear any cached values.
add the HA Application Credential for SpotifyPlus. Please refer to the Device Configuration Options \ Step 2 Home Assistant Credentials 1 wiki page for detailed instructions, making sure that you use the correct Client ID and Client Secret for the Spotify user account you will be using in Home Assistant.
add the SpotifyPlus integration to Home Assistant. Please refer to the Device Configuration \ Integration Install 1 wiki page for detailed instructions.
Ensure that you enter the correct Spotify credentials for the selected Application Credential. Also pay close attention to the Redirect URI value (see Step 4e - Home Assistant Link Account) in the above link.
###Notes
He finally got it working after removing the HA OAuth2 Application Credential as well as the integration, and re-installing.
If the problem is related to "invalid client" or "invalid redirect URI", then it's usually an issue with the HA OAuth2 Application Credential that was defined. This can also come into play when multiple Spotify accounts are configured - make sure you are using the correct client id and secret for the Spotify account that you are setting up.
