Add maiming results in leftover body parts that zombies can feed on

So basically when a brute zombie attacks a human there is a chance to maim and cause a loss of permanent max hp. What if when this happens we slash off a chunk of meat or a limb and allow zombies to eat this piece?

Another idea if a corpse is missing limbs, we can have the "virus" regrow the limbs because it heals tissue damage. Makes sense I guess.
