The current nickel interpreter generates error messages for fatal problems, but it has no capability for generating warnings or lints.

Here is an incomplete list of things that deserve warnings:

unused variables (see also Add a warning for unused contracts #1071)
use of deprecated things
treating naked functions as contracts

We should also have some basic configurability of warnings, like flags to enable/disable certain warnings, flags to treat warnings as errors, etc.
