It's likely that as an user, you have the files existing in an open OS file browser already. As an alternative to file pickers, it may be beneficial to support drag-and-drop of images.
You could implement it either by having the image controls accept drags for that particular image, or try to match the image filenames to directions, based on words or numbering.
