GOVENANT (govern + covenant) is the open standard for provable, governed AI agents. Most agent systems perform — fluent plans, satisfied logs, nothing verifiably shipped. We named that failure mode performed autonomy, built the audit instrument that catches it (it caught our own system twice — we published both failures), and distilled the cure into a standard anyone can implement and anyone can be audited against.

The GOVENANT Standard is authored by Scott Fielder and stewarded by iii.partners, its first implementer. The specification is free to all — including competing implementers — under CC BY 4.0, by covenant: open, forever.
