This notebook from a shared session is worth keeping in the main branch (trying to prune old branches so it's easier to see where there's work in progress).

#10 - the suggestion to use the BioCLIP foundation model as a source of embeddings for a much wider variety of image types is on hold until there's a real requirement to do so.

This notebook is a useful starting point for future reference!

I'm fine with this being merged as is if it helps yourself and other maintainers to leave this project in a state that's easier to pick up in future.

That said, if this can wait a couple of days I'd be happy to tidy it up a little - the latter part was obviously a rush job at the end of the day.

More generally, I've found the 'tag and delete' approach to unfinished experimental work useful in the past. That way you can easily recover the work down the line but it doesn't clutter up your active branches.
