The Functionally Assembled Terrestrial Ecosystem Simulator (FATES)

This repository houses the public version of the Functionally Assembled Terrestrial Ecosystem Simulator (FATES). FATES is a numerical terrestrial ecosystem model. The conceptual design is based on the original Ecosystem Demography model (ED, Moorcroft et al. 2001, Hurtt et al. 2002, Fisher et al. 2015). This model is designed so that it works as a library that can be called from a selection of driver models including Earth System Models (ESM) such as ACME and CESM. Funding for this project is supported by Department of Energy’s Next Generation Ecosystem Experiment - Tropics (NGEE-T) project.

The development version of FATES is housed on a different private repo (https://github.com/NGEET/fates) For access to the development repo, please contact Rosie Fisher (Charlie Koven (@ckoven), Rosie Fisher (@rosiealice) or Ryan Knox (@rgknox) with a note of your general interest in FATES. We plan to make the development repo public once appropriate usage and support guidelines are in place.
