GI Venture Software: How to update your %Complete in ~30 seconds

If you are a researcher or developer working on software for the GI Venture allhands meeting on Sept 9-11, 2015 at SESYNC, you need to update your progress on GitHub very regularly prior to the August 26, 2015 Code Freeze.

It only takes ~30 seconds once you know how (takes longer the first time). Here's how:

Go to: https://github.com/ResearchSoftwareInstitute/ginotebook/issues

Then login to GitHub if you're not already as shown:

Select "Assignee" and then select your GitHub user name as shown:

Select an issue assigned to you as shown:

Select the pencil icon to edit the "percent complete" value as shown:

Edit the two-digit number immediately preceding the "percent complete" text. It is important to leave everything else exactly formatted as * nn percent complete (i.e. asterisk, space, 2 or 3 digit number, space, percent complete) otherwise the software that mines this value from the GitHub page may not work.

NOTE: The value you provide for percent complete is subjective and is just your best unscientific guess of how much % complete your task is.

Select the Update Comment button as shown to save your edits:

In 5-10 minutes, this update should automatically show up here so the GI Venture PIs can quickly and daily monitor the software development progress prior to the Code Freeze on Aug 26, 2015:

CLICK HERE FOR THE GI VENTURE %COMPLETE DASHBOARD VIEW OF ALL TASKS

Note that this same link is included in the first comment area of the GitHub issue you just edited.

Make sure to do the above steps for all the GitHub issues assigned to you, and to update the percent complete value each time you make some progress worth noting.
