User Groups
You will need to have the server component of Sal setup before continuing to the following steps. Log in with the username and password you set when performing the server setup. Make sure you have at least one Business Unit and Machine Group created to get started.
There are currently three User Levels used by Sal. To set these, login and navigate to the settings page from the top right "Person Icon" > "Settings", and choose "Users" from the left sidebar menu.
A Global Administrator (GA) has access to everything - they can get into all Business Units, they can create new Business Units and Machine Groups. However a GA can be limited to in their ability to Manage Users. This setting is shown as a +/- color changing button per GA user inside of the Users tab.
Read/Write users are limited to the Business Units they are given access to. Read/Write users can create new Machine Groups and Machines within their Business Units.
Read Only users are limited to the Business Units they are given access to. Read Only users are only able to view the information.
Read/Write and Read Only users need to be granted access to Business Units before they are able to access anything. This can only be done from the main dashboard. The process of adding a user and removing a user to a BU is the same.
Steps (from the dashboard):
- Select your Business Unit
- From the sidebar select "Tools"
- From "Tools" sub-menu select "Edit Business Unit"
Here you will be able to select or deselect users with a checkbox, which adds or removes access for each user for this Business Unit only.
