Since the ULB guide never explicitly mentions TEXMFHOME or kpsewhich, it might be challenging non-experienced users to understand where to put the logo file. And even if they figure it out, you still need to run texhash to make it work.

Are you sure that you need texhash for stuff in texmfhome? I don't remember using it (on my mac) in such cases.

$TEXMFHOME does not need a registration. $TEXMFLOCAL does.

Generally the issue is, that there are guides out there, which we did not write … and it seems to be an issue to find out who is responsible for those and how we can get people to link them instead.

Oh you're right, texhash is only needed for texmflocal and texmfdist

@Rdeisenroth Generally I don't think this is the correct place. The README already is growing and growing further … The website even holds an extremly outdated copy of the templates … Which also is an issue. I have generic guides on how to install the logo files, which I could link here, if you think that would help.

edit: Oh and I still am not fine with the svg, as the svg is not the same path as the logo files we have … I really appreciate your effort, I am just scared in the end we will have additional issues caused by that…

Yes, i think that would suffice. The issue i am having with the current ULB guides, is that there is no explaination of the "LaTeX-Baum", therefore most beginners just copy the logo to every project individually

Sure, that's not the idea. I texted the Team Infokompetenz once again… Just had to realize that they still provide the template version of 2022-11 there… So We will see how fast I get an reaction, as the effort is exploding anyway … It's a bit hard atm to find time for this, But I keep trying.
