Welcome to the Off World Robotics wiki! The idea behind this wiki is to document what is happening in the team. Hopefully this makes it easier for new team members to get up to speed, keep track of the plan and share knowledge or information efficiently within the group.

We have a weekly meeting at 11:30am.

Shared Google Drive folder for team.

Weekly Meeting Agenda & Minutes ***

The Plan

The current aim is to compete in the Mars Society's University Rover Challenge. The emphasis is on good engineering design and reliability. No point having a many featured hack that may or may not drive on the 3 days we need it to.

Timeline:
Aug: Finalise concept & budget
September: Design & manufacture prototype
October: Design & manufacture prototype
November: Prototype for faculty meeting <- funded to here so far
December: Field test prototype, book travel for full test and rover challenge
January: Design & manufacture final robot
February: Design & manufacture final robot
March: Full test (final robot + logistic of suitcase and travel)
April: Testing & incremental improvements
May: University Rover Challenge

Registration, Milestone Reviews and Down-Selections

*Declaration of Intent to Compete

Teams are required to register and declare their intent to compete no later than Friday, December 5, 2014. No significant deliverables are required for this deadline, aside from team details requested via the URC web site.

*Team Proposal

Teams are required to submit a Team Proposal no later than Friday, January 23, 2015. The Team Proposal is expected to focus on the team structure, resources, and project plan. Technical details regarding the rover are encouraged, but not required. Judges will be assessing each team's overall level of readiness to undertake the URC competition. Teams will be assessed on their own merits, not against other teams. Team Proposals may be submitted as early as December 5, 2014, and will be reviewed by judges on a rolling basis.

*Critical Design Review Teams are required to submit a Critical Design Review (CDR) Package no later than Friday, March 14, 2015. The CDR Package will focus on the overall system design, and progress to-date of the final system. The CDR Package will consist of both written and video components. While teams are not required to demonstrate any working systems/subsystems as part of the CDR package, such evidence will be considered by judges in the down-selection process. The CDR is a competitive milestone; CDR Packages will be judged against other teams’ submissions by the judges. Only teams who pass the CDR milestone will be invited to compete in the field.
